Families prepare to light up their homes for air ambulance

Carl Colyer, of Clophill, has been decorating his house at Christmas for the last six years in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Over the years Carl and his family, of Readshill, have raised more than £2,000 for the charity and this year he’s hoping to turn his home into a Christmas wonderland.

He will be switching the lights on at 5.30pm this Sunday (November 29).

Area fundraising manager Kay Marter said: “Carl is really famous in the area for his spectacular lights around the festive season.”

A couple, from Sandy, will be decorating their house for the air ambulance this year after two of their friends required the emergency chopper. Sadly paramedics were unable to save them.

This Sunday, Wayne and Trudy Gaylor, of Arran Close, will be serving burgers and hotdogs along with hot drinks from 6pm and the lights switch on will be at 7pm.

Mike Willmott, also from Sandy, will be switching on his Christmas lights this Saturday (November 28). He is also supporting the air ambulance charity for personal reasons.

The lights will go on at his home in St Neots Road at 6pm.

Kay said: “It is wonderful to see these families using this wonderful time of year to raise money for the air ambulance.

“We are certain they will do a fantastic job of decorating their houses.

“We can’t thank them enough for helping us in this way. Please come along and support these wonderful families and a lifesaving charity,”
