More than 13,675 properties in Bedford are set to benefit from a new grid transformer at Edison Road.

The major upgrade - costing £1.2million - is being led by UK Power Networks, which distributes electricity across London, the south east and east of England to 8.3million customers.

Phil O’Blath, project manager for UK Power Networks, said: “This is a major investment in Bedford that will be of lasting value in terms of future proofing reliable power supplies, as well as the upgrade having clear environmental benefits.

“This project improving our network is one of the multi-million pound schemes we are carrying out this year.”
