Man escaped with minor injuries after tree fell on his car in Flitwick

The man was trapped for over an hour while Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service used a crane to remove the tree and access the door of the vehicle to rescue him.

Firefighters, the police and ambulance service attended the incident, where a tree had fallen onto a car in Brookes Road, Flitwick, by the junction which meets The Avenue.

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service posted on it's Facebook Page: "Our specialist cutting equipment helped break the tree down. Our crane then lifted it and fire crews were able to access the door of the vehicle and cut it open. The ambulance service took the driver to hospital. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening."

Brookes Road, The Avenue and Hinklsey Road were all closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.
