Climate change group near Bedford hopes to make positive change

Ampthill has joined forces with other smaller towns and villagers across the country to tackle climate change.

Under the banner Every Action Counts, the aim is to engage with residents, businesses and organisations, to work on projects which will make a difference.

The group, which will be community led, is the brainchild of Ampthill resident garden designer Jayne Anthony.

"I felt the need to act because I had met so many people who wanted to do something positive about reducing their carbon footprint and protecting nature," she said.

"With support from the countryside charity CPRE Bedfordshire, I contacted Ampthill Town Council with my ideas. and was really pleased that they moved so quickly to get a climate change group established with half of the councillors getting involved to move it forward.

"We're now starting to build up community membership and support, to work on local projects that will make our town more sustainable”.

Ampthill Climate Change Group is holding an open meeting in The Stables at The White Hart in Ampthill from 2-4pm on Saturday, February 8.
