French visitors tried their hand at making classic cream tea scones as they spent a day with pupils at Castle Newnham School. Students from the College Jean Marie Pelt, in north-eastern France, enjoyed a baking session along with other activities such as sport and lessons on the language of Shakespeare.
Headteacher Ruth Wilkes said: “We really value our international links at Castle Newnham. It was wonderful to see pupils from France working alongside our own pupils in a range of activities and helping each other to overcome linguistic barriers.”
She added: “Everyone enjoyed the visit and the schools are hoping to arrange an exchange visit in the future.”
