Drop by and learn basic first aid

Volunteers at St John Ambulance's Bedford Pilgrim unit will be welcoming the public to a recruitment event in the town centre on Saturday, July 9, from 10am until 3pm. The team will be outside Primark on Midland Road and visitors can learn some basic first aid techniques which will be demonstrated free by four volunteers from the unit. These will include how to put someone in the recovery position, how to help someone who is choking and how to deliver cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to a patient who has suffered a cardiac arrest.

There will also be a chance to talk to the volunteers about their work with the first aid charity, to enrol as a volunteer on the day and to take away information about the charity and about basic first aid skills.
