A new theatre company from London is to host drama workshops in Bedford for youngsters aged 14 to 18.

The Big Bold Youth Theatre workshops will be at Church Lane Community Centre, Bedford, on August 24 and 25, 9am until 1.30pm. The teacher will be Leanne Petit, originally from Bedford and a former pupil of Sharnbrook Upper School who has just graduated from The Italia Conti Academy in London.

James Watkins, director of the theatre company said: “The aim of the workshop is to give the kids a taster of what Big Bold Youth is like, and if we get enough interest from this workshop, we can begin to set up a base in Bedford and run drama classes termly.

“All our teachers have professionally trained at an accredited drama school in London and/or Los Angeles and all work professionally within the industry. Aside from providing a great link for all of our students to the industry, we are excited to pass on the skills and experiences we’ve learnt to the next generation of budding actors.

Even if children don’t want to go into the arts professionally, Big Bold Youth workshops are great for making new friends, growing in confidence and learning to work as part of a team, to name a few benefits.”
