Fitness enthusiasts are being called to try a new class or activity this summer as part of a campaign to enjoy the great outdoors.
Fusion Lifestyle, who run leisure centres around Bedford, are holding Great Outdoors Week where residents can have access to facilities for free.
Running this week, residents can download a free two-day pass to Bedford International Athletic Stadium, Bunyan Sports Centre, Kempston Pool, Mowsbury Golf and Squash Centre, Oasis Beach Pool and Robinson Pool.
Existing members of these centres will also be offered a free two day buddy pass which can be given to a friend to use throughout the week. The passes will give people the opportunity to try a wide variety of outdoor exercise sessions, from boot camps to golf lessons as well as taking part in events, workshops and fitness consultation sessions. The weekend will focus on family fun sessions including a family workout at Robinson Pool.
Paul Jeyes, general manager at Robinson Pool said: “Summer is the perfect time to shake up your fitness routine, and our Great Outdoors Week will hopefully alert many more people to the benefits of exercising in the fresh air.
“With so many different classes on offer throughout the week, I’d encourage everyone, no matter what their fitness levels, to come along and try something new.”
Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “There are so many activities residents can get involved in; what better time to get outdoors than in the summer? With the schools soon breaking up for the summer, children and their parents may discover a sport they really enjoy during Great Outdoors Week that will keep them busy for the rest of the summer half term!”
