Did you witness high street assault and robbery?

A man was knocked to the floor and robbed as he tried to break up a row in Bedford.

The man was in the High Street at about 9.30am on Saturday (May 7) when he saw two woman arguing.

As he attempted to intervene he was approached and assaulted by a man and knocked to the floor.

When he got up, the victim realised his wallet was gone.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Mandy Durrant said: “As a result of this attack the victim sustained serious injuries, and the ordeal was no doubt highly distressing for him.

“At the time of the incident there would have been lots of people in the town, so someone must have witnessed the assault. I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.”
