Dazzling new musical for youngsters sure to be a Wiz

Talented youngsters from across the county will be among the cast of The Wiz, a dazzling musical version of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Last year’s production of Footloose proved to be a phenomenal success and next month another cast of young thespians will be taking to the stage and will transform the traditional story of Dorothy and her companions.

Milton Keynes Theatre Creative Learning department has revealed that Stage Experience is to return with the Broadway hit The Wiz, sponsored by the University of Bedfordshire.

More than 100 youngsters aged between 10 – 21, including some from Bedfordshire, have been selected through open auditions to take part in the two-week project, led by industry professionals.

The project will culminate with three live shows at the Milton Keynes Theatre on Friday, August 8 and Saturday, August 9.

The Wiz sets Dorothy’s adventures in the Land of Oz to music in a dazzling, lively mixture of rock, gospel and soul!

The production will feature a real life Toto, a live orchestra and upcoming talent from far and wide.

The production will be directed by Robert Marsden, choreographed by Scott Ritchie and Matthew Reeve will return as musical director.
