'˜Dangerous' plastic shards found in packets of popular fridge snack
A popular fridge snack is being recalled for fear they may contain pieces of plastic.
Seven types of Mattessons Fridge Raiders chicken flavour snacks could contain dangerous bits of plastic and should be returned to the company by anyone who has bought a contaminated packet.
The recall of the Roast Chicken Flavour Fridge Raiders was ordered by the Food Standards Agency today when the discovery was made at the Mattessons factory.
Contaminated products include Mattessons Fridge Raiders roast chicken flavour 3x25g multipack, 5x25g multipack, 60g single pack, 50g single packs, and £1.39 single packs.
Fridge Raiders roast chicken flavour meal deal 50g single packs and Fridge Raiders roast chicken flavour Big Eat 100g packs have also been recalled.
Any of these products bought with an expiry date between July 4 and August 5 should be sent back to Mattessons.
A spokesman for the Food Standards Agency says Mattessons should refund any customer who has bought a contaminated packet.
He said: “Mattessons is recalling the products. Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in stores selling these products.
“These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled.
“The Mattessons sales team are also engaging customers directly to alert them to the recall and set out the process in place.
“If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ - taken off the shelves - or ‘recalled’ - when customers are asked to return the product.
“If you have bought one of the above products, do not eat them. Instead, contact Mattessons for a full refund.”
