A cyclist died from a broken neck when he was hit by a lorry as his travelled along the A421.
Polish Anatolijis Sahmanovs, 46, died at the scene of the accident on September 22 this year, an inquest heard.
He had been cycling westbound along the bypass between the A600 and the A6 junctions.
Today (Wednesday) Senior Coroner Thomas Osborne opened an inquest into the death of Mr Sahmanovs, of The Highway, Shortstown.
The cause of death was recorded as a fracture dislocation of the upper cervical spine.
A full inquest hearing will be held at Ampthill Coroner’s Court on April 14, 2016.
Mr Osborne signed a certificate so that Mr Sahmanovs’ body can now be repatriated back to Poland.
