Police investigating the theft of a purse in Bedford have released images of two men they would they like to speak to.

At around 4.45pm on Thursday, July 1, a woman was shopping at a home décor store in Rope Walk when she was approached by two men.

One man managed to open the victim’s handbag and took her purse.

The victim’s card was then used to withdraw a significant amount of cash.

PC Alex Mason, who is investigating, said: “We are keen to speak to the men pictured as we believe they may have information that could help in our investigation.

"If you recognise them please let us know.

“I would also like to remind our residents to always raise concerns of suspicious behaviour with store staff.

"Offenders of this type of crime are opportunistic so please remain vigilant.

"Always flag for help if anyone is attempting to distract you while shopping and where possible try to keep your bag with the clasp facing inwards.”
