A Sky News investigation has revealed police forces across the country employ at least 211 officers and PCSOs who have been convicted of criminal offences.

And while some forces admitted officers had committed offences including assault, burglary and animal cruelty - Bedfordshire Police revealed they had no serving officers with convictions.

Sky News sent freedom of information requests to the police forces, as well as British Transport Police and the Ministry of Defence Police.

A spokesman for Bedfordshire Police said: "This was in response to an FOI request and would have required detailed manual checking of personnel records and exceeded the time and cost limit to do so, as laid down in FOI regulations.

"However, we can confirm that no current serving officers have any criminal convictions."
