A man needed hospital treatment after being attacked by two men - and police are appealing for witnesses.

At approximately 1am on Sunday (June 13) a man was walking along Western Street - between Midland Road and Commercial Road - when he was attacked by two men.

One of the offenders was described as white, large and wearing a white T-shirt. The second offender was described as white, slim and wearing a pink T-shirt.

The victim suffered serious injuries which required hospital treatment.

PC Ashleigh Napier, who is investigating, said: “This type of behaviour won’t be tolerated in our county and we are currently following a number of enquiries in connection to this incident.

“We would like to ask anyone who might have any information that would help us with our investigation to come forward.”
