A shotgun and ammunition has been seized from a vehicle stopped by police in a residential street near Bedford town centre.
Four men were arrested after the incident, which happened on Friday in Roff Avenue..
Nazish Shehzad, 30, was charged with the possession of a shortened shotgun.
He appeared before Luton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday where he was remanded into custody.
A 60-year-old man from Bedford and a 16-year-old boy from Loughton were arrested on suspicion of possessing of a firearm and were both bailed.
A further man from Bedford was also arrested but has been released with no further action, say police.
