Photos of a man police want to speak to in connection with two robberies in Bedford shops have been released.

The CCTV images were issued after staff in two convenience stores were threatened by a man wielding a brick.

At approximately 8pm on Friday, December 4, a man entered a McColls store in Chiltern Avenue and demanded money, alcohol, and cigarettes.

On Thursday, December 10, at approximately 7.55pm, a man entered a McColls store in Queen’s Drive and asked for money, Jack Daniels and cigarettes to be handed over. On both occasions the offender is believed to have threatened the shop workers with a brick.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Guy Steel-Jessop said: “These were nasty incidents which we believe may be linked, and we’re appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

“In particular we’d like to speak to the man pictured in the CCTV images as we believe he may have vital information which could help us with our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Steel-Jessop on 101, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
