'Deliberate' arson attack on Wootton home while residents slept

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to a report of a fire at Harris Way, Wooton, at around 2.30am, and quickly notified the police of the incident.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and the address was safely evacuated.

Wootton Lower School is located nearby on the same street.

Detective Sergeant Simon Hancock, who is investigating this incident, said: “Thankfully no one was hurt during this incident and the damage was limited to the front door of the property.

“We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry and believe that the fire might have been deliberate. We are keen to speak to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident.”
