Bedford Prison has been rated THE dirtiest prison in the UK

The London firm - Stuart Miller Solicitors - looked at everything from visitor access, accommodation, food and cleanliness, overcrowding levels, healthcare, and education accessibility - and listed the best and the worst top 10.

Bedford doesn't figure well in other categories - namely being among the top 10 for having the youngest inmates; in the bottom 10 for inmate security; healthcare; and for inmates time out of their cells.

But it's cleanliness where Bedford comes out at the very bottom in the country - with a rating of 35.69%.

Previously, Bedford Today has reported about how the prison has been plagued by trouble with rioting, staff striking and a massive rodent infestation.
