A man who assaulted a woman has been jailed for 19 weeks.
Lynden Paynter, 35, of Honeysuckle Way, was handed the sentence at Huntingdon Magistrates Court on Tuesday (June 13) after pleading guilty to assault and criminal damage.
On May 20 at a house in Orchard Park, Cambridge, Paynter repeatedly hit his victim, a woman in her 20s, on the side of the head, chest and put her into an arm lock.
When officers arrived they found punch marks in the walls and photos of when Paynter had previously spray painted his name across the walls.
Detective Constable Dave Cooper said: “Paynter is a dangerous and manipulative individual who though that he was able to control his partner and not get caught.
“The victim has shown outstanding bravery in coming forward and disclosing the information that led to his conviction.”
Paynter received 19 weeks for assault and four weeks for criminal damage to be served concurrently.
Anyone who has been a victim of domestic abuse can speak to officers on 101 or can make a report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
