Armed police stopped car on Bedford street

A man has appeared at Luton Magistrates court after armed police stopped a car in Bedford on Friday.

Nazish Shehzad, 30, was charged for the possession of a shortened shotgun and appeared before Luton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday where he was remanded into custody.

Four men were arrested on Friday (1 April) by armed police officers after they seized a firearm and ammunition from a vehicle that was stopped in Roff Avenue, Bedford.

A 60-year-old man from Bedford and a 16-year-old boy from Loughton were arrested on suspicion of possessing of a firearm and were both bailed.

A further man from Bedford was also arrested but has been released with no further action.
