A Cranfield company will be showcasing its game-changing mobile app technology to a European-wide audience of retail industry leaders next month.
Briteyellow, based at the Innovation Centre, has invented BriteLocate3D, which, among other advantages, solves the problem of some people getting lost in large indoor venues, including huge shopping centres.
The technology innovators will be exhibiting at the Retail Technology Business Expo (RTBE) at Olympia, in London, on March 9 and 10.
Fredi Nonyelu, chief executive of Briteyellow, said: “BriteLocate3D gives customers a 3D map on their mobile device which guides them to where they want to go. It is like having a street level virtual reality view on your device.
“Although the technology behind it is extremely complex, it is much easier and simpler for the end-user than having to look at a 2D paper map, find the “you are here” arrow and then trying to work out where it is you want to go and how to get there.”
The app technology can also be used by retail centre management to visualise the movements of, for example, security staff. Retailers themselves will be able to offer customers offers as they walk past.
“It is a game-changing innovation,” said Fredi. “Not just for shopping centres but also other high footfall venues such as airports, shopping malls, department stores and visitor attractions.”
RBTE gives leaders in the retailing sector the chance to keep up to date with the latest solutions in one place.
“I am delighted that Briteyellow has secured Stand 729 at the expo,” said Fredi. “We have a brand new innovation that will help retailers provide a much better experience for their customers.”
