The award-winning country park already provides facilities for families, dog walkers, water sports, fishing and nature fans.

However, Bedford Borough Council hopes to provide refreshments to those who wish to enjoy the park.

Due to a change in circumstances since the tender was originally awarded, the Council is inviting businesses to tender again for the opportunity to open a cafe in a under-used park building.

Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said “Following the success of the cafes in several of the Borough’s parks, we believe a new facility in Priory Country Park would become a real community hub and make visiting even more enjoyable. Priory is already a hugely popular park for visitors of all ages, and a new cafe will only enhance its popularity.”

Priory Country Park encompasses a 180 space car park, adventure play area, picnic sites, kick about area, an extensive walking network and is home to a vast array of local wildlife.

The park is one of Bedford Borough’s top visitor destinations, attracting over 320,000 visits each year.
