The Royal British Legion is hosting the last of its talks to commemorate WWI on Monday evening.
‘Codebreakers in the Shadow MI 1(b) in WW1’ takes a look at the signal intelligence work of Malcolm Hay and his team of codebreakers who focused largely on breaking the diplomatic ciphers of Germany and its allies.
The Army equivalent of the Royal Navy’s Room 40 unit also worked on the enemy codes used for securing messages sent to and from the trenches.
Speaker Mike Champan isa volunteer tour guide and WW2 veteran interviewer at Bletchley Park.
The talk is being hosted in Bedford’s Harpur Suite from 7.30pm.
