The programme on Saturday, May 7, will celebrate J S Bach’s legacy with two cantatas, one sung by Kongsberg Kantori (no 106), the other by St Paul’s Church choir (no 150), but also with a beautiful 20th century piece derived from a Bach chorale, to be sung by all three choirs.

Written by the late leading Norwegian composer Knut Nystedt (1915-2014) a simple chorale setting of Come, sweet death, come, blessed rest is elevated into something more profound and timeless.

Moonlighters, based in Tempsford, will bring a lighter note with two arrangements by Bob Chilcott, Didn’t It Rain and Ev’ry time I Feel the Spirit and a further Traditional Spiritual, Steel Away arranged by David Blackwell.

Ian Runnells, director of St Paul’s choir, and Matthias Anger, Kantori’s director will each play a selection of organ pieces

The concert begins at 7pm and tickets are £8, or £5.00 F/T students and under 18, from the church office on 01234 340163 or at the door. Visit http://www.stpaulschurchbedford.org.uk
