Children get busy with Make A Difference Day

Pupils at Robert Peel Lower School in Sandy had a busy day making a difference to their community.

The children took part in MAD day activities - Make A Difference Day - on Friday, June 24.

Youngsters throughout the foundation stage were helped by students from Sandy Upper school to ice a mountain of cakes that were donated by their Tesco’s in Sandy.

A cake sale was held after school in the playground and all money raised will go to St John’s Hospice at Moggerhanger.

Year 3 at Robert Peel collect tins during MADD day.

The day began with the ‘NED show’ organised by key stage 2 teacher Christine Bennett and focussed on N: Never giving up, E: Encouraging others and D: Doing your best, all values that underpin the ethos at Robert Peel.

Other activities that took place throughout the school included collecting food tins for the NEED Project, tidying the school environment and litter picking, as well as making get well cards for people in hospital.

In the foundation stage, children enjoyed a shared reading experience where year 4 pupils read to and shared books with reception children.

Reception class teacher Nicky Kearsley said: “Overall it was a very busy and a fun day was had by all.”
