Charity fundraiser at restaurant helps mum on road to alternative therapy cancer treatment

The family of Elaine Elliott from the Castle Quarter are subscribing to an alternative therapy treatment from the Budwig Centre in Spain.

Her daughters Tammie, Tracey and friends held the charity night at Indian Summer restaurant in Tavistock Street, which generously allowed them to take over the premises on Monday, February 15. A raffle, surprise-prize envelopes, auction and ticket sales raised £3,600 on the evening.

Said Tammie: “I just couldn’t believe how generous people have been with their time, money and donations. There were some fantastic prizes donated. We are now setting mum on this alternative therapy course in the hope it will help her as it has others.”

Helping to co-ordinate the evening event was Kerry Cash and team from 5th Avenue Hair and Beauty spa in Howard Street.

Kerry said: “Businesses in town have been so kind, it makes you proud to be from Bedford.”
