CCTV issued after transgender woman suffers hate crime in Bedford pub

Police have issued CCTV of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a hate crime in a Bedford pub.

It happened on Saturday, March 12 at around 3.15am when a transgender woman was spat at and assaulted in the George and Dragon in Mill Street. A group of men had verbally assaulted the woman throughout the evening.

PC Mark Ephgrave, investigating, said: “This victim was targeted because of her gender orientation and it is unacceptable. Nobody deserves to live in fear for who they are. Hate crime will not be tolerated.

“We would like to speak to the man pictured as we believe he may be able to help our enquiries. Anyone with information is asked to come forward.”
