Carers can still get the free flu jab to protect them this winter

There’s still time for carers to get a free flu jab to protect them through the winter months.

If those that look after others become ill with flu they are unable to provide their usual care and may transmit the virus to the vulnerable people they care for.

Carers are eligible for a free flu vaccination if they receive a carer’s allowance or are the main carer for an elderly or disabled person, who may not be able to care for themselves if their carer becomes ill.

People need to have the jab annually as the vaccination is updated to protect against the types of flu that are circulating.

To receive the vaccination carers should make an appointment with their GP.
