Tributes have been pouring in for a 33-year-old rugby player who died in a road accident at Wixams on Saturday.
Mark Davey, from Silsoe, was driving home along the A6 after a game in Bedford, when his black Audi A8 was in collision with a black Porsche 911.
His father, Chris Davey, said his death has left the family “with a hole on our hearts which is beyond description.”
He said: “As a teenager he fought Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. On the day he was diagnosed he had no idea what the future would hold and our wonderful son decided to live life to the fullest.
“He forged a successful career in property, loved sport and found a home at Luton Rugby Club which just seemed to fit him like a glove.
“He was a wonderful man who helped anyone who asked for his support. He had an endless desire to be there for those in need.”
He added: “He made countless contributions to charity, not simply money but also putting himself at real physical effort and risk.
“He was someone who showed genuine empathy and sympathy.”
Mark worked for Ampthill estate agent, Indigo Residential, since the day it opened.
Director Sean Phelan said the firm is “devastated by this tragedy” and are overwhelmed by “the support, love and care everyone is giving”.
He said: “Mark had an enigmatic style about him and this helped him to achieve huge success in the property industry.
“Mark was responsible for moving literally hundreds of people throughout his short career.
“Mark had other significant business interests and had become a true entrepreneur.
“One thing is for sure, Mark touched a lot of lives in a very positive ‘happy go lucky’ way. We would like to help Mark achieve his dream of raising £30,000 for his chosen charity ‘Starlight’.
“It was very important to him that he gave something back for all the help they gave him when he was a child.”
The agency said Mark’s charity donation page has been reactivated and within 24 hours, £14,000 has been donated.
