Car burst into flames after late night collision

Firefighters were scrambled to a two-car collision after one of the vehicles burst into flames.

Crews from Kempston and Ampthill attended the incident on the old A421, near Green Lane, Stewartby, with the Special Rescue Unit and three fire engines.

Donning breathing apparatus to protect themselves from smoke and fumes, they extinguished the blaze using a fire hose.

All passengers had escaped from the car and three adults and four children were cared for by paramedics.

The incident happened at 10.33pm on Friday (February 12), and was closed at 11.13pm.
