The woodland site is owned by The Forest of Marston Vale charity.

Fittingly the cheque was presented to the charity’s chief executive, Nick Webb, in a canoe, close to the Butterfly Bridge at Bedford’s Embankment.

It’s hoped the donation will be the first of many as the partnership between Canoe Trail, a family run business and The Forest of Marston Vale develops.

Canoe Trail offer a wide range of activities from the Grange Estate, including wild camping, bushcraft skills, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding as well as low ropes challenges and archery – all of which reflect The Forest of Marston Vale’s mission to provide community woodlands for people to enjoy a wide variety of recreational activities.

Mr webb said: “As a charity, we’re very grateful for Canoe Trail’s generosity and are looking forward to developing with them a range of recreational activities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the Forest of Marston Vale.”

Rich and Ash Kenlock-Harpham, of Canoe Trail, added: “We’re excited about our partnership with The Forest of Marston Vale and offering action and adventure packages that will suit a wide variety of groups from team building exercises, activities for school groups and for children in the school holidays or for groups wanting to learn new skills or try new outdoors experiences, and all while raising money to help grow The Forest of Marston Vale.”
