The funds raised will help improve access at Duck End, which has ponds, marshy areas, old pollarded willows, a wildflower meadow, all sorts of wildlife and is a quiet haven for visitors.

The Greensand Trust launched a crowdfunding campaign ‘Love A Duck’ to coincide with Valentine’s weekend for the reserve, the last surviving part of Maulden moor.

Alexe Rose, senior development officer at the trust, said: “For many years a boardwalk has enabled people to get close to the wetland wildlife on the reserve. Unfortunately the boardwalk has been vandalised and so we are trying to raise the money to replace and extend it.

“We have had a great response already from our volunteers who have helped us to make a film to promote the public appeal.”

The boardwalk is for many people the best part of the reserve, helping young and old to enjoy the wet marshy areas safely, and without getting their feet wet.
