A cafe assistant from Bedford is celebrating winning the Marks & Start Achiever Award at the 16th annual Pride of M&S awards.
The awards celebrate exceptional M&S employees who go above and beyond to support their local communities and those in need.
Leanne Briscoe, aged 26, a customer assistant in the café at M&S Bedford, started her career there three years ago after taking part in the Marks & Start employability programme.
The scheme helps people enter the workforce who have previously faced barriers and have struggled to find employment.
Leanne joined the programme with the help of The Prince’s Trust, which supports young people aged 16 and 25, and spent several weeks on work placement at M&S.
She won the Marks & Start Achiever Award in recognition of her hard work and attitude throughout her placement in Bedford.
After joining the programme, she was quickly offered a permanent, full-time role and since then Leanne has gone from strength to strength.
Leanne is now the Master Barista for the café and also regularly gets involved with charity work, as well as acting as a buddy to new Marks & Start recruits.
Leanne said: “I have had the most fantastic first three years working at M&S and I am so thrilled that all of my hard work has paid off.”
