Small businesses brought together under one roof

A wide array of business contacts will be together under one roof at Bedford Corn Exchange on Thursday, April 16 – and it’s free for people to visit.

The Beds SME Expo will be at the town centre venue from 9.30am to 1.30pm and will include a speed networking event so businesses can gather those all-important contacts.

Bedford businessman Ian Cording, chairman of event headline sponsor the Bedfordshire Federation of Small Businsses (FSB), said: “Bedford is fortunate in having a hugely diverse and vibrant business community and it is superb to see so many of those sectors respresented at the Beds SME Expo.”

Already booked up are IT companies, business coaches, social media gurus, accountants, printers and colleges offering courses and apprenticeships to businesses.

Ian added: “Having all those businesses represented under one roof is an extraordinary opportunity for business people to gather important contacts which lead on to business deals and the all-important support that we all need.”

The day will kick off for serious networkers with a £10+VAT breakfast organised by event sponsor Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce, from 8 am to 9:30 am.

There will also be speed networking from 11am.

Ian said: “Speaking about yourself for 30 seconds sounds really easy but when you have to do it many times to different people at one of these speed events, it can leave you exhausted.

“My advice is to bring along your complete focus, a bottle of water for refreshments and lots and lots of business cards!”

The Beds SME Expo will be officially opened at 9.30am and from then visitors will be able to get free tea and coffee.
