A rare Queen Victoria sovereign ring was stolen during a house raid.
Crooks forced their way into the Wootton house, while the resident were at home, between 8.30pm and 10.20pm last Wednesday (October 28).
Once inside they took a safe from one of the bedrooms, which contained a selection of gold jewellery.
Det Con Claire Case said: “Burglary is extremely distressing for victims, and in this case a number of valuable and highly sentimental items of jewellery were taken. Additionally, the victim was in the property at the time which has left them shaken.
“I am keen to hear from any witnesses who may have seen anyone in the area at this time carrying a silver-coloured safe, or anyone with any information about this callous offence.”
