A young man who has gone missing with his eight-month-old son is believed to be from Bedford and went to college in the town.
On Tuesday, police launched an urgent appeal to track down 22-year-old Kieran Carroll, who has vanished with baby Louis.
Recently he has been living in Luton and was last seen at around 2pm on CCTV in the town.
Police say Kieran has disappeared without any baby supplies such as food and nappies and say it is very out of character.
The case is not being treated as child abduction.
A spokesman said: “We are just concerned for their safety and just want to know they are both OK.”
Kieran’s Facebook page features dozens of loving pictures of himself with his young son.
Det Insp Sean Quinn said: “This type of disappearance is very out of character for Kieran and we are becoming increasingly concerned.
“We just want Kieran to contact us to let us know that him and Louis are safe.
“If you have seen Kieran, or have any information about where he and Louis may be, please contact us immediately.”
Kieran, who has extensive tattoos on his arms and hands, is believed to be wearing black trousers, a grey hooded top, and a dark woolly hat with a bobble on it.”
Anyone with information about the missing father should contact Det Insp Quinn on the non-emergency number 101.
