PC Owen Webb, Sgt Paul Chadwick, PC Andy Carlin, PC Myles Massiah, PC Lee Miles and PC Darryl Usher were called to the fire in May 2015 after reports of concern for the woman were received.

They forced their way into the property, which had smoke and flames coming from the front door.

The officers were presented with certificates from the Society for the Protection of Life from Fire by Chief Constable Jon Boutcher at a Long Service and Commendation Ceremony in Kempston last week.

He said: “The officers involved in this incident showed outstanding bravery, especially the two officers who entered the building, risking their own safety in order to save the woman inside.”

PC Webb and Sgt Chadwick have also been nominated for a Police Bravery Award. Their nomination will be celebrated at the Police Bravery Awards ceremony on 14 July, at The Dorchester, in London.
