Books were brought to life when pupils dressed up as their favourite fictional characters for the day.
World Book Day was also celebrated at St Gregory’s Catholic Middle School in Biddenham through dance, physical theatre and the spoken work.
The event was run in partnership with the University of Bedfordshire, whose students visited the school to run activity workshops.
It culminated with a performance from Year 8 pupils showcasing their skills and interpretations of Romeo and Juliet and The Canterbury Tales.
School library resource centre manager Aleatha Cumberbatch said: “All in all, World Book Day at the school was an excellent example of creative collaboration between two excellent centres of learning in Bedford.”
