A spokeswoman for First Capital Connect said there would not be a normal service today and no trains running to St Pancras until lunchtime.

Network Rail engineers are working to clear a number of problems on the tracks including a tree at St Albans and overhead wire issues between Radlett and Mill Hill.

She said: “As soon at Network Rail tell us that the lines are safe we can begin running services.”

London Midland is running a normal service on the Bedford to Bletchley line.
