Bedford Students skydive to raise cash for Duke of Edinburgh award

The three pupils from the Alternative Provision Academy were Liam Pounder, Jack Jarvis and Subs Akin.

Together they joined with Specialist Teaching Assistant, Mia Tomlinson, and complete with jumpsuits and instructors all took the brave leap from the plane.

“It was a really exhilarating, incredible experience” said student Liam Pounder. “I would like to thank all the people and companies that supported us to do this jump. It means a lot to us.”

The pupils needed to raise £1,850 for the tandem skydive. The funds were raised from an organised car wash event and generous donations totalling £700 from Leighton Buzzard-based solicitors Osborne Morris and Morgan Solicitors and Brasier Freeth Chartered Surveyors.

The Maria Marina Foundation, a philanthropic foundation which supports disadvantaged people and people with special needs, also contributed £750 towards their target.
