A Bedford-born rock band has made it to number six in the album chart.
Don Broco’s second album called Automatic was released on August 7 by Epic Records.
The band is made up of Rob Damiani (lead vocals and electronics), Simon Delaney (guitar), Tom Doyle (bass) and Matt Donnelly (drum and vocals), who met while they were studying at Bedford Modern School.
It was here that they played their first gigs but it wasn’t until after university that the pals decided to form a band.
The rockers beat the late Cilla Black in the charts this week, following a surge in sales of her album The Very Best Of.
They’re also ahead of Hold Back The River singer James Bay from nearby Hitchin and international star Taylor Swift.
Don Broco’s frontman Rob said: “It feels amazing to have a top 10 record in the UK. A huge thanks to the Bedford massive for helping us chart so high.”
Their success if a far cry from their early shows. One of their first gigs outside of Bedford was in Barnsley where the only person there was the drunk bar owner who threw peanuts at them.
