Gift of the Mancynn, a science fiction tale about a teenager who receives visits from mysterious figures is the work of Bedford Modern School student Dominic Hodgson.

Dominic, 18, who is actively involved in Performance Arts at BMS both as an actor and director, decided to be an

author at the age of five. He said: “I’m really excited that Gift of the Mancynn has been accepted by Ravenswood Publishing.

“I’ve already finished writing my second novel Archk of Angels which is currently being edited and my third novel is under way.”

Stephen Bywater, head of English at BMS, and himself a published author, said: “Dominic has been working on his tetralogy since Year 8 and

it is wonderful that he has now achieved, with true grit and dedication, his burning ambition. His love of sci-fi and fantasy is embedded in every page

and I, for one, have never read anything quite like it. It takes you to places and other dimensions, shakes foundations and nimbly overturns

reality. I’m certainly looking forward to the day when Dominic’s Dr Who scripts are turned into full-blown episodes.

“Steven Moffat and Neil Gaiman had better watch out, there’s a new kid on the block!”

Dominic’s tutor, Rachel Gleeson, added: “Dominic is a hardworking, conscientious young-man who will be going to the University of

Birmingham in September; he has received an unconditional offer to read English and Creative Writing where he is keen to hone his skills.

“His studies in Maths, Physics, English and Theatre Studies have all contributed to his writing. Dominic is passionate about writing and has

written scripts for his Theatre Studies A-level as well as his novel, he would love to further his repertoire with screenwriting (which he has

completed an EPQ on).

“We wish Dominic all the best with his forthcoming exams, with university and his writing career.”

The novel is available on Amazon as an eBook and paperback.
