Bedford man arrested for attempted murder after attack outside police station

The 36-year-old is being held by Cambridgeshire Police after a woman in her 40s suffered serious injuries.

Officers at Cambourne Police Station, in Sackville Way, heard screams in the street outside at about 9.20pm last night (March 22).

They rushed out to find the injured woman, who was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, in a serious but not life-threatening condition.

The offender made off and was pursued by officers, during which three were assaulted, resulting in one receiving minor injuries and being taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon.

A 36-year-old man from Bedford was arrested near to the Caxton services on suspicion of attempted murder, however he was taken ill at the scene and transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment.

He has since been taken to Parkside Police Station in Cambridge where he remains.
