Bedford illustrator wins top book award
A Bedford artist has won Waterstones' best illustrated book prize after impressing judges with his comtemporary classic tale.
Victorious David Litchfield, who draws for the Beano, was given a cheque for £2,000 after scoring first place in the competition.
His first book, The Bear and the Piano, tells of achieving dreams and understanding the things that truly matter, all through the tale of a forest bear.

Hide AdThe former art and design teacher at Bedford College is a well-known face in the town’s arts and music scene, after playing alongside musician Rebecca De Winter in the band Tinker Jack.
He has also produced artwork for the band Rue Royale.
