Balaclava wearing gang threaten taxi driver with metal pole

The incident happened at around 3.15am on June 2 after a taxi, which had picked up a fare from the casino in Milton Keynes stopped in St Augustine’s Road, Bedford to drop off the passengers.

The taxi, a silver Toyota Prius, was approached by a group of men wearing balaclavas who threatened the driver and passengers with a metal pole. The taxi drove off but was followed by the offenders in a red Vauxhall Astra, which overtook them on Goldington Road in an attempt to block their route. The Astra continued to follow the taxi until it reached Woburn Road in Kempston.

Detective Constable Surindar Ram, investigating, said: “This was a terrifying incident for the victims and the dangerous driving was a risk to all involved and the wider public. We are committed to finding those responsible and are appealing for any information that could assist our enquiries. We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who saw vehicles matching the descriptions, in the area at the time.”

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been bailed pending further enquiries.
