Nigel Price brings an exciting and personal approach to his own improvisations and arrangements and will be at the pub’s jazz night on Monday, January 5.
Nigel led his organ trio to pick up the 2010 Parliamentary Jazz Award for best jazz ensemble and during 2014 he has toured with his group who are tenor saxophonists Vasilis Xenopoulos and Alex Garnett.
Nigel spent three years performing with the James Taylor Quartet and is a regular performer at Ronnie Scott’s where he has racked up over 300 performances.
As well as his impressive live credits he’s recorded with his own groups and featured with other renowned jazz musicians such as alto saxophonist Matt Wates, vocalist Gerogia Mancio and 60s bogaloo funk band The Filthy Six.
Drummer Mark Hale, who has been organising the jazz nights since October, said: “ I am extremely excited about this gig, and couldn’t think of a better way to start off the year. Nigel has had a fantastic year touring with his organ trio and being voted 3rd in this year’s Parliamentary Jazz awards.”
Established in 2011 by Nick Hill, the Monday Night Jazz has welcomed other well known musicians such as Gilad Atzmon, John Turville, John Critchinson and Allison Neale.
Mark got involved after a gig with Nick and Simon Spillett and hesaid: “To have such a place in Bedford where I could go and listen to great music, meet other musicians and learn was an invaluable experience. This benefit extends to featured musicians.”
