A 33 year old woman was the target of a would-be robber in Bedford on Wednesday, October 15, and police are appealing for witnesses.

The incident happened at around 8.45pm as the victim was standing outside the British Heart Foundation shop in Thurlow Street, Bedford, close to the bus station. The victim was approached by the offender who asked for a cigarette before threatening violence and demanding that she handed over cash.

The victim managed to flee towards the Tesco Express store in Midland Road where the police were called.

The offender was a mixed race woman, 17 to 25 years old, 5ft 4ins tall, of slim build, with a pale complexion, blonde wavy hair and she was wearing an oversized light coloured coat, dark trousers that were too short, purple socks and Mule type shoes.
