Appeal after cyclist dies in collision in Gamlingay

Police have named a man who died after the bicycle he was on yesterday morning (Tuesday) was struck by an oncoming car in Gamlingay.

Ronald Bousted, 74, of Aldgate Close, Potton in Bedfordshire, was cycling along Heath Road near its junction with Everton Road when the crash happened at just before 6am.

It is believed a white Vauxhall car-derived van was overtaking another car when it collided with Mr Bousted who was riding in the opposite direction.

The driver, a 41-year-old man from Sandy, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed to return to Parkside Police Station in Cambridge on January 29.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the road policing unit on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
