Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an incident in which burglars posed as police officers.
The incident took place at around 12.45pm on Thursday (June 4), when the victim returned home to Aylesbury Road, Bedford, to discover two males inside the property.
The offenders stated they were police officers, before making off from the house with cash, bank cards and landline phones. They had forced entry to the house through a rear window.
Both suspects are described as white males around 6ft tall, with one wearing a short brown khaki jacket and a grey or brown coloured beanie hat. He was thought to be aged in his 30s and spoke with an English accent.
Detective Constable Matt Inwood, investigating the incident, said: “We would appeal to anyone who was in this area of Bedford at the time and saw anything suspicious to contact us.
“This offence was highly distressing for the victim and we are concerned that these callous offenders also tried to pose as police officers.
“We take all reports of this nature extremely seriously and will continue to investigate to bring these offenders to justice.”
Anyone with any information should call DC Inwood using the police non-emergency number 101, text information to 07786 200 011 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
